In a projectized organization, work is organized into project teams that form and disband when work is finished.  Each VUCAN evolves into a project professional responsible for getting work done on time and on budget while satisfying stakeholders. Often, there are no permanent job titles or permanent job assignments.  There are few bosses and job titles.  Teams and individuals self manage their work.

This work environment (middle ring) is not for everyone.  The atmosphere is intense with tight deadlines.  The flat hierarchy places a premium on VUCANs with ideas who can execute and monetize.  Status is earned and salary is based on real value-added contributions.

A project is defined, authorized, and resourced.  Project is broken down to specific tasks each of which are linked. Work is broken down into specific tasks or fragments around a project. Sometimes, this is taskifying or crowd sourcing work.  Think of this as creative or knowledge piece work.  This is the basic project work model

  • Rapid upward mobility.
  • CEO of your team.
  • Customers want faster, cheaper, and better.
  • Product life cycles are halved and shrinking further.
  • People must do faster, with less.
  • Work is core-processed or projectized.
  • Cross-functional virtual projectteams do more work.
  • Project manager replaces middle manager.

Work is global and is chunked into projects and sub-projects.
