TOAST AT WORK? – TRY MINDFULNESS

Omm …  COVID is stressful and anxiety ridden. So, what to do? VUCANs medicate. VUCANs exercise.  VUCANs go to therapy.  VUCANs meditate.  VUCANs do mindfulness.

You’re always connected, look at the number of VUCANs who are driving and texting.  Work is a 24 x 7 grind.  Work expectations are sky high.  Work, family, activities, and interests seem to converge at once.  The amount of information you receive is greater than your ability to absorb.  Where’s the fun?  Where’s the passion?  Where’s the gospel of work?  Life’s too short!

Quite frankly, VUCANs are exhausted from the COVID hustle, tired of long hours, and tired of work.  Tension kills.  It’s not fun to be medicated and be out of it. Exercise takes time.  VUCANs are looking for respite rather than escaping to Burning Man once a year or trekking in Thailand.  There has to be a better option.

Mindfulness meditation at work is huge.  Work meditation is almost an epidemic as VUCANs are using it to induce calm, physical relaxation, and overall wellness. Over the last 20 years, studies have confirmed the health benefits of mindfulness. Mindfulness allows you to focus on the critical things in your life and disconnect from the noise.  Companies offer mindfulness workshops and classes.  There are a number of the reasons why mindfulness is so popular at home and at work.

Work Lesson EarnedMindfulness provides an opportunity to learn how to unplug, disconnect, and unwind.  Mindfulness can be reframed as stress relief, relaxation, unpacking yourself, self-managing yourself, being in the flow zone, or managing your energy.

Mindfulness is easy.  It can be as simple as sitting, counting breaths, and being in the moment.  Mindfulness can be as simple as listening to internal messaging.
