WORKING IT: DISRUPTION RULES

Three Rules of Work: Out of clutter find simplicity.  From discord find harmony.  In the middle of difficulty lies opportunity.

Albert Einstein – Physicist

Disruption Rules!  Why did I use this in the Working It title?  Good question!   COVID is real and deadly.  Think about the reboot button on electronics you own.  What do you do?  You punch a button and the machine goes back to its original state.  You reboot to fix something that isn’t working.  You reboot to refresh, have a new start, or reinvent yourself.  Work paradigms and rules are disrupted so companies and people are rebooting their work assumptions.

Everything seems to be changing. The marketplace is getting tougher. Companies are reassessing their business models, competitive assumptions, and even customer requirements.

Workers are reassessing their marketability and employability.  Downsizing is all over. Work is harder for many.  Workers search for meaning at work.  Others simply want to have a livable wage.  Hostilities among work tribes are increasing.  Raises are of nonexistent.  Give backs are increasing.  Work is competitive.  Personal work brands are adapting.

We want to respect the readers’ personal work vision and work models.  Many workers are struggling to simply find work. They may opt for gig, startup, or non-traditional work.  This is great!  What works for you is fine.

Work Lesson Earned:  We want to provide you, the reader, with options in terms of providing new contexts; offering new opportunities; seeing what others can’t; expanding your opportunity borders; redefining what work means to you; and providing new lens and frameworks by which to look at your work.
