Post COVID, millennials around the world may be a ‘lost work generation’. One major reason is most recent college graduates are not prepared for work through poor self management. The numbers are stunning:
“While 96% of chief academic officers of colleges and universities believe that their institutions are very or somewhat effective at preparing students for the workforce, only 11% of business leaders strongly agree.”[i]
The table below reveals the Employer (top bar) vs. Student (bottom bar) perceptions of work competencies[ii]. Today’s students are not work-ready.
Work Lesson Earned: In COVID time, the above table shows graduates are not work ready and are under employed or unemployed. Graduates will have to readjust their beliefs, thoughts, and behaviors regarding career management, work ethics, communications, and self management.
