How fast is this occurring? The US technology sector is growing at a 40% annual clip. Computer power keeps increasing as the cost of computation falls. Every 18 months computing power doubles in speed or costs half as much. Organizations and people are more productive as the cost of computing power costs less.
This is called Moore’s Law.[i] Moore’s law has become the cornerstone of electronic goods as they’ve become cheaper, faster, and better. We can see these phenomena with calculators, computers, cell phones, and VCR’s that double their capacity, performance, or capability every two years or cost half as much.
