Some of life’s simplest and mundane activities are also projects even though they’re not as visible, expensive, or monumental as landing a person on the moon. The phenomenal proliferation of day planners attests to Brand U’s projectizing their work and daily life. Day planners or electronic planners schedule our activities, in other words managing these daily activities become part of our projects. We may meet with our accountant, take our children to the park, or get a haircut. Each of these important, daily and mundane activities has an objective. At the end of the day when the objectives are met, the daily project ends. If one follows this logic, most life activities become Brand U projects involving balancing family, home, and work commitments.
Project management was a geek tool until the last five years or so. Why? Much more had to be done faster with much less. But, times have changed! Now, all organizations from the Girl Scouts to the Department of Defense must get things done on time and on budget while satisfying diverse stakeholders.
