Products: Something produced by human or mechanical effort or by a natural process; a direct result.[i]
A major theme of this book is that we’re all leaders of our Brand U destinies, or CEO of our careers. In other words, we are all portable producers of value. As a product, we may offer a courteous phone response, engineering consulting services, gentle dentistry, or accurate milling of a machine part. All these services and activities add real and perceived customer value.
So, what does this product discussion have to do with Brand U? Everything! “In the de-jobbed world, a worker without a product is like a company without a product: full of potential resources, perhaps, but competitively not even in the game” says William Bridges, the career strategist.[ii]
